Welcome, Germies, to this month’s writing challenge! This challenge will begin today and will end February 28th. However, you are welcome to come back anytime to complete this challenge and submit it below. We will pick a few of our favorites that are submitted during this month, though, and they will be featured in our Lit Fiction section.
February Writing Challenge:
–Write a short story based off of this picture (“Haunted?” by Rachel Kertz). There is no limit to how short it can be, but keep it no longer than 1,500 words.
Is it haunted, abandoned, a secret hideaway, or someone’s comfy home? You decide. Who used to live there? Is it really haunted? Who lives there now? If no one does, why not? Is this place lonely or filled with love and laughter? You can write about the house itself, the people connected to it, or even the events that have transpired there. These are just suggestions to get your creative juices flowing, so feel free to write about anything that comes to you, whether it’s mentioned here or not.
Submitting for this challenge is easy. Simply email your story to [email protected], including your name, age, and country in the email. If you have any questions at all, or if you’re having problems submitting, feel free to email me at [email protected].
Everyone who completes the challenge will be responded to and informed as to whether or not their piece has been chosen to be featured. Since the deadline for this challenge is February 28th, do not expect an email from us until mid-March.
To prevent the possibility of our emails ending up in your spam folder, be sure to add [email protected] to your contacts list.
