Inside my head,
there is a poem.
But for the life of me
I can’t seem to get it out.
I’ve tried pencils, pens,
I’ve tried my keyboard,
but no matter what I do,
it’s just no use.
The words stay trapped,
floating forever in my little head.
My heart screams, “You jerk!
All this pain and
all this misery you’ve put me through,
you can’t find one way to release it?
To put it into form?
How rude.”
My mind grumbles, “Have you really forgotten?
Every memory, every incident,
have they really escaped you?
Here they are, replaying every minute inside your head
But you don’t care.
I guess I’m the only one who remembers.”
I wrestle with my heart and mind
I scream, “You’re wrong!
I remember! I feel!
Every last drop of Hope
Pain
Love
Sadness
Happiness
They’re all here!
Begging and gasping
to be released into a poem.”
But it’s no use,
because there the poem stays:
Trapped inside my head.
Forever
