I’ve come here. For this.
And now I’m too scared.
I don’t know why– I mean, she’s beautiful; all wiry and twisted and monumental… but she’s tall.
Really tall.
My legs turn to jellied lead as I ascend the first step of six hundred and sixty-nine.
Somehow I reach the first floor; I can’t stop now or I’ll change my mind and start crawling shamefully back down.
Blood pumps in my ears and my lungs scream for air as I mount the second floor– I stop for a second to breathe.
I see the view.
Paris is worth the fear.
