Lately, country music has been a bro scene with nary a female performer in sight that isn’t either Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert. This bro-country phenomenon has also resulted in hundreds of similar sounding songs revolving around scantily clad girls acting as arm candy for the “good-timin’ cowboy” to drive around in his pickup truck.
Enter Maddie & Tae, a young, talented country duo, who have said “enough is enough.” Their hit “Girl in a Country Song” highlights the frustration of this lack of diversity in the country music scene, and it has a killer music video to boot. We can only hope that this will start a revolution and bring us back to the glory of the Reba McEntire/ Martina McBride/ Trisha Yearwood/ Faith Hill wonder years.
