I looked across the table and felt a contentment I hadn’t felt in some time. I was finally in a home of my own with my friends around me. There was laughter and conversation, the wine was flowing — a little too much over my new tablecloth, but I was trying to ignore that. My eyes fell on the bowl of roast potatoes; two left…. I had already eaten 5. Would anyone notice if…. I quickly shovelled them into my mouth just as Jeff turned to speak to me. I gave him my best smile, showering potato over both of us.
