Are you looking for a good lip gloss recipe? Probably not! You probably didn’t know that there was such a thing. But there is! This make-your-own lip gloss is a great alternative to many lip glosses you can find at a drugstore. For one, this is fairly inexpensive and quick (and fun!) to make. The other nice thing about this is that you can tailor it to your liking, adding the specific flavors and colors that you like. This DIY lip gloss also makes a lovely gift. So, stop your exhausting search for a good lip gloss recipe! You need look no further.
Ingredients:
-1 tub petroleum jelly
-Microwave safe bowl
-Travel containers with lids
-Kool-Aid Glitter (Be sure this is some form of edible glitter. I used Pearl Dust. You can find this at a craft or grocery store)
-Food coloring
-Paper flowers (optional).
Instructions:
- Empty the contents of the jar of petroleum jelly into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for about three minutes, checking the consistency every thirty seconds. The jelly will melt into liquid. Drain the liquid into a bowl periodically. Continue microwaving until all of the jelly has melted.
- Separate melted petroleum jelly into bowls, depending on how many flavors you will be making.
- Empty desired flavor of Kool-Aid into petroleum jelly, and stir until the Kool-Aid is all mixed in. I used about half of a packet; that said, you can’t really go wrong.
- Mix in food coloring and glitter. The amount is up to you! I played around to find my favorite colors.
- Spoon into travel containers and put the lid on.
- Refrigerate the lip gloss for three to five hours.
- If you are giving this as a gift (or if you just want your lip gloss container to be prettier), take a paper flower rosette and glue it to your lip gloss lid.
- Enjoy!
