Mothers are incredibly important, which is something that I think we can all agree on. They care for us, feed us, nurture us, and, before we’ve gotten our licenses, drive us everywhere we need to go. Honestly, that trait alone — the ever-willing chauffeur — is one of many reasons why mothers are so special. Who else would take the time out of their busy day to haul my annoying twelve-year-old butt to the mall to hang out with equally annoying twelve-year-old butts? Probably dads, come to think of it, but today isn’t about them. That’s next month. Today is about mothers and about how wonderful and necessary and sacrificing they are for the sake of us, their progeny. If you have a special lady in your life today that you consider a mother, then I suggest you give them the biggest hug you can manage and thank them for all that they’ve done for you today. There’s a reason we have an entire day out of the year set aside specifically for the celebration of mothers and all that they’ve done for us. Hats off to you, ladies. It’s your day, and we love you.
