Hey, Germs! We’ve come to the end of NaNoWrimo. After thirty days of writing, how many words have you cranked out?
I dropped out this year, but you know what? That’s okay. Even if you don’t win NaNoWriMo, you’ve accomplished something really great. You started a novel; you made progress on something. You started. That’s the hard part.
But for those of you who are still writing like crazy? You are amazing.
A few tips for NaNoWriMo end-game:
- Try doing writing sprints. Find a buddy to work with; challenge each other to an hour of just writing. Writing within that time constraint can really help your productivity.
- Take breaks. Get up and walk around. Grab a snack or a drink. If you keep going and going and going without a break, you start to become less efficient. Sometimes your eyes need some time away from the screen and the novel.
- Keep having fun. This is a contest, but it’s meant to be fun!
All of you who are attempting NaNoWriMo this month are amazing. Even if you only got a few words done, you did something awesome. You should be proud of yourself! You can do it.
