The broken cannot break
They’ve been hurt too many times before
Crushed, unfinished, left behind
Forced to believe that they are nothing more than bones and blood

The broken cannot break
But they bleed pain festering inside them, blackened with the mold of being forgotten

The broken cannot break
But their reminders are hidden scars that burn with the memory of pain
And their new cuts will heal
But not their hearts
Those stay cracked forever

The broken cannot break
They are stronger than before
Tough skin and callouses mark their souls
But they will uphold
And in the hardness they can run
And in the toughness they can fight
And in the darkness they can breathe

And they can see what we cannot
Invisible light is visible to them
They notice what we don’t and feel what we will never
It’s the price that must be paid
In sorrow and secrets
To be unbreakable
