This is a picture of a beach in my hometown, Libreville.
Since moving to the US at the age of 10, I find solace in this picture.
It reminds me of my childhood. It reminds me of the times my uncle
would take us to the beach and have big family cookouts. This picture
also reminds me of the times I spent with my grandmothers on their
land where they planted different kinds of food. Some days I would
walk with my grandma Jeannette, and once we arrived on the plantation,
she would set up a little picnic area for me while she checked on the
seeds. For me, it was the best of times, not a care in the world.
