YouTuber Anna Akana uploaded this video a year ago to talk about what it’s been like to go through life after her sister committed suicide in 2007. Though the event happened several years ago, the pain is still very evident.

depression-72320_640Suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems, and the consequences with which family, friends, acquaintances, and everyone else have to live are just as unceasing. Those who are “left behind” after a suicide are left to wonder what they could have done, if they could have made things better, whether or not they could have prevented this, and these are questions they can never truly have answered.

Behind car accidents and homicide, suicide is the third leading cause of death in young people. More teens are losing their lives by their own means than to any physical illness. Lives are being ended before they can be appreciated.

This is a serious issue that should never be taken lightly and should always be handled with care. No matter what, you are important to someone, and that matters.
