Adventure, The very word makes my heart pound with excitement. I feel a sense of breathlessness from this overwhelming feeling of joy. Adventure is a word synonymous with adrenalin. I mean how can you not get an adrenalin rush when you are doing something that you never thought you could? Isn’t that what an adventure is? Doing something you could never even have imagined you would. Feeling the adrenalin rush as you did it something you could never have thought you would have been able to. This is why people love adventures. It’s the feeling of being on top of the world. It’s also that feeling you get wherein you realize that you can do so many things, now that you have completed one of them.

Adventures might be different for all of us. For my little sister, even crossing the road on her own is an adventure.  An adventure is huge and risky that she treated herself to ice cream the first time she did it and couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day! For us, crossing the road is part of our mundane everyday lives. Once you do things more than once, they usually lose their charm (there are a few exceptions, of course!).That’s why an adventure can never be the same very time. It’s always different. That’s the beauty of it.

I live in India, where taking a gap year after high school is frowned upon. I have been contemplating taking one. I want; no I need my own adventure. I crave it because I need to find my own bright place, a place where I feel safe and happy. I want to live on my own and talk to new people. I want to learn how to survive in a city full of strangers. I want to learn to be myself, gain confidence and realize that I am capable of achieving anything I want! I want to love myself! Isn’t that what an adventure is about? Learning more about yourself and improving yourself as a person.

Just remember, anything is an adventure as long as you view it as one.
