I never was much of a fan of Gossip Girl. During its initial six season run, I’d seen some of the episodes, but it just wasn’t for me. Then, two days ago I was casually browsing YouTube, searching for new music, and I saw a cover of “Dreams,” a song by Fleetwood Mac. When I saw the video, my first thought was, “Dang, this girl looks a lot like Blair from Gossip Girl,” and a second later I found out that she was, in fact, Blair from Gossip Girl.

My initial reaction was one of incredulity, because for some reason I’m really skeptical about TV stars and movie stars claiming to be able to sing. I’m not saying that they’re all incapable of this particular talent, and there do happen to be some I actually love. Still, despite my reservations, I decided to listen to it since the cover of “Dreams” by Bastille and Gabrille Aplin is one of my favorite songs out there. Just imagine my surprise when this song turned out to be unbelievably amazing!

I love the sparse instrumental effect with just a little bit of guitar, and I really enjoyed the symphony between Blair — a.k.a. Leighton Meester — and Dana Williams’ voices. So, if you are in the mood for something a little bit melancholic and calm, check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
