The rhythm of your heartbeat keeps me awake at night.
Bouncing around your chest, hitting my spine.
You pull me closer, the scars on your arms ready,
with your fortress at stand by. Fending off any monster coming for me.
We lay with the covers kicked down to the end of the frame,
Only a blanket to protect us, from the ever-coming knight,
You tucked the safety blanket that surrounds us under me.
My sweaty teeth crave your name always, You
Are the only thing that can tame me.
I lay quietly in the silence, listening to our off-timing breathing,
Taking the beating of your heart. Hiding in the fortress you built
Around me. Waiting for the day my cells self-destruct and are
Replaced. Waiting for the day that you,
Will be the only one to ever touch me.
