Ode to Passion

SongbirdsPassion.

Such a simple word, yet so powerful and well-understood. Not only do your own passions define who you are, but they motivate you to strive toward great things. My passion is singing — in the car, in the shower, at school, in my room, in restaurants. One thing is clear: Singing is prominent in my life. From my wee toddler days to my budding adulthood, I have sung through my troubles and my deep emotions. It is the easiest way for me to express myself. Everyone has a passion, whether or not they know it yet. Part of life is discovering what makes you happy — i.e., discovering your passion.

As someone who has a strong passion for singing, it is my escape and is also the one thing that brings me back to reality. When I sing, I feel like I have purpose. People always say that you never work a day in your life if you love what you do. This is so true! If you find something that you love, it won’t ever be stressful or boring to do. It will never feel like a forced career with little purpose but to make money. Think about careers that revolve around your current interests and hobbies. This will direct you closer to a life of happiness.

People everywhere strive toward passion, and swear by it to succeed in life:

“Passion drives Perfection.” — Rick Warren
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” — Steve Jobs
“There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” — Nelson Mandela
“Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else.” — James M. Barrie

Passion is the air, giving life to your soul. It’s the powerful energy that surges through your veins when you’re doing something that you love. Everything created, whether it’s a skyscraper or a chair in a dining table set, was fueled by passion. So, when you are doing something, something that you love, and it feels like the universe is in alignment and all the planets are orbiting you (okay, that’s a bit extreme, but you get the idea), then that’s what you were put here to do. That is your passion.
