Our Journeys Differ by the Mile by Aditi Chanda

In an age before this dreary time

When all made sense, the words would rhyme
We knew each other well back then
Speech came easy, I’d call you friend

Out of sight, out of mind
The legend’s true, we came to find
For now we speak with lulls and breaths
When at times before we could not rest

The veil is cast upon us all
How fast and sure we faced the fall
Thought we’d survive a time apart
Come back the same, same joyous hearts

Yet our souls have wandered far and wide
You’ve faced the world, I’ve faced the tide
Our journeys differ by the mile
We’ve changed a lot in all this while

So now we pass each other by
Your eyes can’t see the tears in mine
Our journeys differ by the mile
Thought that we could face this trial

Voices quiet, once so loud
The passion buried underground
Our journeys differ by the mile
So now we share a rueful smile

JpegAditi Chanda is seventeen years old and lives in Kolkata, India. She’s in her last year of school and hopes to study Enligsh or Writing in college. She’s a bookworm who loves to write, and her favorite color is blue, which is fitting since she adores the sea.
