A statement coat is what everybody needs to really stand out during the colder months. It’s so easy to blend into the background in fall and winter because of the lack of color, but with these suggestions, you can be the center of attention in any crowd. Common colors, textures, and patterns are such a bore, so why not spice up your life with an amazing coat? Here’s a look at my favorite styles this winter:
FUR
The go-to statement piece that you can incorporate into your winter wardrobe is a fur coat. Fur coats (both real or faux) have been worn for ages and have been known for their elegant and glamorous appeal. You can always find some that are more modernized, refined, and affordable, though! I love a fur coat that incorporates different prints and textures. I also love when the fur is longer and made to look like feathers, adding a bohemian, whimsical feel to your look.
MILITARY
The military coat is another classic. Although this coat is more suitable for fall, it could work for winter as well, which is why this coat is so wonderful. The military jacket has many different designs, patterns, textures, lengths, etc., which adds to the long list of reasons as to why this coat is a classic. The buttons add an elegant yet masculine and tough feel. This coat plays heavily on the buttons and buckles, and it makes it all the better to wear during the colder months for that perfect downtown London look.
CAPE
A cape is an ultra-feminine coat, which I personally love wearing in the colder seasons. It’s a piece that is both timeless and show-stopping, and it can be worn with leggings, dresses, and riding boots. To play on the ultra-feminine look of the coat, opt for one in a houndstooth print or with a fur collar.
POP OF COLOR
Colors, colors, colors! If you really want to stand out in a crowd and be unique in the city streets, colors are perfect for you! Pastels, vibrant colors, lights, darks; you have endless options!
TEXTURED
Lush textures are a girl’s best friend. In the colder months, you can never go wrong piling on a great patterned piece with a monochromatic look or an all-black pantsuit.
A statement coat should reflect your personality, whether you’re extremely outgoing and extroverted or more shy and simple. Remember that your own style is both unique and amazing, so don’t be afraid to push the boundaries and have some fun!
