i.

black curls, frizzed. make up,
faded. heart
lips, stern. our spell
books on your shelf, covered,
dust, candle wax. you
never wanted me to love
you.

ii.

freckled cheeks, fly away
hair. your chest, a volcano, always
erupting. thin feet,
boots laced, harpoon in hand – you
never stop running long
enough for me to love
you.

iii.

angel face, cupid’s
bow. everything about you
has wings. you smile pearls,
ribbon words. i run you
ragged, a child with
her doll. i will always love
you.
